Power Rangers Wild Force aka Gaoranger

Duuuuude Ninja Storm and Dino Thunder were two of the best seasons of Power Rangers aside from the original series. I couldn’t stand RPM and Time Force. The emotions in PRNS&PRDT were more mature in many ways & that’s why they’re so great.
Dino Thunder is my second favorite season, after In Space. It’s so referential to the original series that it feels like a sequel… like what MMPR would have been where it made in the 00’s. Ninja Storm is one of my favorite seasons because it was so much fun. The style was wicked, the characters were awesome, and the story was great. Haters are just mad nobody got murderdeathkilled and that a certain Yellow Ranger used the word “dude” a lot. I fucking love those seasons.
I HATE, HATE, HAAAATE Time Force. Because it’s basically an excercise in promoting totalitarian states (kids in the future were test-tube babies, created to be perfect) and fantastic racism (against the mutants, people outside of the utopia who mutated due to pollution, etc.). Anyone who was a mutant was a criminal. One episode featured a mutant who was stealing food to feed his family because mutants are impoverished. Even though they didn’t beat him up or anything, if memory serves, they still imprisoned him. What a great lesson for kids, right?
RPM is just fucking stupid to me. Heavy-handed explanations of the skin-tight color-coded suits, the explosions, the posing and the role call… It was almost like hate mail directed at the past seasons of Power Rangers. To me, it’s like what happened when bad fic became reality and the inmates ran the asylum: Wild Force, and that shitty special Forever Red. Great idea, horrible story and terrible execution. Not to mention the bastardization of the Beetleborg costumes. I hate Forever Red. Once A Ranger was done a million times better, even with it’s sudden-out-of-nowhere lovechild and random assortment of Rangers. I love Once A Ranger, even if I’m less than happy with the rest of Operation Overdrive.
The episode of Ninja Storm where Shane got his Battleizer when he met the Karmonian? When she ‘phoenix downed’, I cried. None of the ~srs bns~ seasons made me do that. The end of In Space gives me chills to this day. It’s epic. You should have seen all the confused and oblivious people who couldn’t understand why Dai-Shi (the villain from Jungle Fury, trapped in a human body) would routinely have moments of clarity when the human side of the character would break through and hesitate or question his actions. I loved that because it was something so real and something that makes me think deeper about what makes a person tick… But of course, because he wasn’t all badass and blowing shit up, people hated him and the season. I was appalled. All of the seasons that fandom likes to belittle are narratively and emotionally stronger than the ones they adore. That’s so telling to me the sort of people I find myself surrounded with when I’m on the message boards. It makes me sad.

I’m one of the only people in fandom who rather hates this special.
The story felt thrown together and there were a lot of things that I will never forgive (like ruining Metal Hero/Beetleborg costumes to make half-assed villains).
Once A Ranger > Forever Red. Yeah, I said it.
SOMEONE I FUCKING NEED THESE FOR THE SQUAD
…It is of vital importance that I discover where I can purchase these magical things.
Also, Mighty Morphin’ and Wild Force work rather well together… or maybe it’s because he’s pantless, I can’t tell…
